I thought of the sun and it came
I thought of the birds and they came
Mannequins with missing hands
Men with burning holes for eyes
Wiling mornings to change
First I cried when I left
Then I cried when I landed
The forest laughed as I pirouette
Solid ghosts in the branches
Alone with the blackened sky
And soak for hours in the madness
Like pigs in mud with their muddy friends
slow like waves until the end
When we bury our hopes in the garden
As durian falls on my head
And splits like egg in my brain stem
Don’t trust a man with poultry face
But please feel free to placate them
Sunny days in a crowded parade
Favouring shade as I walk away
Please hold my hand in case I escape

I favour the real not the virtual
I’m rubbing my eyes but you’re still here
